Voor dit jaar in ieder geval. Na een wandeling door La Carihuela ben ik weer even bij Nuevo Lanjarón gaan eten: Cordon bleu con salsa 'Diana'. Op de hoogte van Can Can werd ik alweer opgewacht door Suzanna uit Caïro. Ze had klaarblijkelijk wederom een paar dames voor mij in de aanbieding. Daar ben ik echter niet op ingegaan. Goed nieuws komt uit de Spaanse Koninklijke familie. Zeker vermeldenswaard in deze brief. Daarom heb ik de website geraadpleegd van de SPAANSE KONINKLIJKE FAMILIE.

Ik mag dus wel aannemen dat mijn lijn goed wordt gecontroleerd. Nochtans lijkt het mij een goede zaak in deze laatste brief - als een soort 'hommage' - stil te staan bij de SPAANSE KONINKLIJKE FAMILIE. Het nieuws van deze week is namelijk dat Prinses Cristina, gehuwd met de handballer Iñaki Indugarain, afgelopen woensdag 6 december hun tweede zoon op de wereld heeft gebracht met de naam Pablo Nicolás. De familie heeft al lange tijd mijn aandacht. Vandaar dat ik vanavond de volgende informatie - in het Spaans - van het net heb 'geplukt'. (Zondag 21 december 2008. Aangezien op dit verhaal vermoedelijk copyright berust kan ik u deze hommage niet laten lezen. HERMAN DE KONING beschikt echter wel over de originele tekst van deze brief). Deze geachte Collega is altijd een groot voorbeeld voor mij geweest. Wie schreef ook alweer De Koning van Hispanje heb ik altijd geëerd? Was dat 1. Marnix van Sint Aldegonde? 2. Don Quijote El Bueno acaba de visitar la venta otra vez. Esta tarde fue a comer en la Venta la Morena, Carretera de Coín. Vanzelfsprekend ben ik vandaag op zoek gegaan naar Hotel Byblos als anterior novio de la Princesa de Gales. Om 12.30 vertrok ik opnieuw met de Joven María II naar Fuengirola.

Naast mij had een heerschap plaatsgenomen met een petje met het opschrift AKZO NOBEL terwijl ik toevallig nog een shirtje droeg van de Baak. Daarbij realiseerde ik mij automatisch dat wij beiden met dezelfde baas te maken hebben gehad. Cees van Lede staat mij nog bij als de dag van gisteren. Met name toen hij ons paarse beleid introduceerde op 15 mei 1990. Tijdens de 1000ste certificaatsuitreiking van Nieuw Elan. Liesbeth en ik hadden hem op dat moment zojuist gevrijwaard van een hoofdelijke aansprakelijkheid voor een bedrag van Hfl. 2.000.000,- als nieuwe voorzitter van de Stichting Nieuw Elan, als Tjeb Maris zijn zin had gekregen. Hoewel de desbetreffende heren uit Finland afkomstig waren nam ik een bijzondere vorm van non-verbale communicatie waar. Vooral toen mijn favoriete jacht, de Princess 57 voorbij kwam varen.

Vanaf dat schip werd er alweer direct vriendelijk naar mij gewuifd. Het waren klaarblijkelijk Engelsen. Vandaar dat ik na aankomst direct naar mijn favoriete bar ben getogen in verband met het sterrenbeeld. Daar werd ik al direct ontvangen door een zanger van wie ik heb begrepen dat die al jarenlang geleden is overleden en ergens in de Verenigde Staten ligt begraven. Ik was in zijn tijd nog een fan van Pat Boone. We spreken dus over de tijd van Juffrouw Maatjes en Juffrouw Zandbulten. Die hebben ze hier genoeg. Ik heb er alleen geen foto's van gemaakt. Deze keer. In accordance with Your promise on 6 November 1996 to introduce me at the European Commission I request You herewith to fulfill an intermediary role. Regarding my aimed British collaboration partner in the United Kingdom I can report You that I have made Her an Honourable Proposal as of next 28 September. So that's the start in the Netherlands. Now We can build up The Business in England. I may presume that the father of your friend has received my letter of last Friday already. I made some mistakes in the spelling of his name. My excuses therefore. I also may presume that your friend will take a minority participation in the company, also when I would marry you. I read 'No wedding says Diana' in the Daily Mail. That's good. Otherwise I have to look for another wife.

Dat is dus inderdaad noodzakelijk gebleken ten gevolge van de ongevraagde - alsmede ongewenste - interventie (naar later is gebleken). Vandaar dat ik Liesbeth nadien een soortgelijk ultimatum heb gesteld. Ik heb haar een huwelijk voorgesteld. Daarbij heb ik haar de keuze voorgelegd: a. privé, b. zakelijk, c. allebei. Dat lijkt mij een zeer edelmoedig aanbod. Op grond van dit aanbod ben ik immers nog geen nieuwe relatie aangegaan en ik heb haar de vrijheid gegeven om tussen deze drie mogelijkheden te kiezen. Commitment derhalve. Met die gedachte ben ik vervolgens om 14.15 met de bus naar Cala de Mijas gereden. Ik was daar niet op het juiste adres voor een bezoek aan hotel Byblos. Een Spaanse jongedame heeft mij bij die gelegenheid een lift gegeven tot op 2 kilometer afstand. Dat stuk diende ik te lopen. Hetgeen geen straf betekende bij een aangename temperatuur van 20º.

Al gauw kwam mij het bord Alhaurín mij bekend voor. Daar staat nog een bekende gevangenis. Ik dacht daarbij ook nog terug aan het gesprek dat ik afgelopen vrijdagavond heb gevoerd met enkele Britse heren. Dat was niet mals wat ik hen heb toegevoegd. "You called Her a loose cannon!! And now She is dead! And that 'Mr.' Dodi Al Fayed abused the situation. He ruined within six weeks what We had carefully built up during five years time before" Ik heb van mijn leven nog nooit iemand zo hard zien schrikken. Daar reden de meeste inwoners van dit gebied hier twintig jaar geleden ook nog op. Het is hier zelfs nog een toeristische attractie in Mijas Pueblo.

Zo kwam ik rond 15.30 bij Hotel Byblos aan. Het is precies mijn stijl. Het alziend oog was al aardig paars geschilderd. Bijgaand tref je de brochure aan. Bij de receptie lag een krant met de foto van 'Wills'. Hij zou vandaag voor het eerst - in Chili - een presentatie geven.

Men had er klaarblijkelijk al op mijn komst gerekend. Ik sta hier als Príncipe de Europa te boek. Denk ik. Als Diana hier haar huiswerk heeft gedaan. Maar iedereen dient altijd als starter te beginnen. Het gaat echter wel om het juiste principe. Nadien heb ik dus - tot 17.18 uur - gegeten in de Venta la Morena. Gezellig. Ook daar was alles al in paarse kleuren gehuld. Vooral de dames.

Door de hoge temperatuur was ik mij nauwelijks bewust van het naderende kerstfeest. Bij de 'roundabout' van Mijas moest ik echter alweer gauw aan Jedburgh denken. En de etalages zijn nu volop red and purple.

Vooral die laatste dame keek mij zeer ondeugend aan. Daarom zal ik ze hieronder nog even uitvergroten. Ook wordt hier dus regelmatig Engels gesproken. Nog meer dan in Gibraltar.

Prins William 'groeit' op kamp In de aankondiging van het programma Van Koninklijke Huize, zag ik dat er ook weer meer aandacht aan Diana wordt geschonken. Ik hoop van ganser harte dat zij nu het échte verhaal in beeld brengen. Ik denk dat ik het hier vandaag bij laat.
